Stephen King hailed THE EVIL DEAD as “the most ferociously original film of the year” when the film premiered in 1981. Shot on a shoestring budget, the film boasts impressive camera work and extremely over-the-top gore and graphic violence (the film was originally released independently with a self-imposed ‘No One Under 17′ rating and was banned in several countries.) 

THE EVIL DEAD launched the career of director Sam Raimi (who would eventually direct the Spiderman series) and made star Bruce Campbell a cult movie icon, spawning two hit sequels: EVIL DEAD 2: DEAD BY DAWN and ARMY OF DARKNESS. 

The EVIL DEAD trilogy has become a fan phenomenon, ranked among the most popular and acclaimed cult horror movies of all time!

Empire magazine ranked this film as number 48 on its list of The 500 Greatest Movies of All Time. The New York Times placed it on their list of The Best 1000 Movies Ever Made. This weekend, The ScareHouse Moonlit Matinee kicks-off with the "infamous" comedy classic THIS IS SPINAL TAP!

Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, and Harry Shearer are David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel, and Derek Smalls, respectively--three clueless, self-absorbed men who form the nucleus of Spinal Tap, aging purveyors of overwrought songs with titles such as "Big Bottom," "Smell the Glove," and "Sex Farm."

 THIS IS SPINAL TAP is a striking and acutely hysterical directorial debut for Reiner and a deserved cult classic. Watch for an endless array of cameos by wonderful comic character actors along the way.

Make Room For Kids Update!

  

Pittsburgh-based Microsoft employees rallied to the cause when Pittsburgh blogger  Ginny Montanez started her "Make Room for Kids" project in conjunction with the Mario Lemieux Foundations Austins Playroom Project. The goal of the project was to outfit patient rooms on the transplant unit at Children's Hospital with Xboxes, video games, controllers, movies, laptops and more. On April 29, 2010, they delivered 23 Xboxes and related items, enough for every patient room on the unit!
